The SSG-240 provides throughput of up to 240 Gbps of total traffic (in+out) in the in-line mode. The key parameters are the number of packets per second (PPS) in each direction and the packet size in bytes. For the remainder of this article, packet length is calculated including headers.

In the in-line configuration, two 100G ports are oriented toward subscribers (in), and the other two ports are oriented toward the internet (out).
